Why I Want to Be a Teacher free essay sample

Children are our future. Therefore, it is important to provide and empower them with the best education. Education is the foremost and profound factor on the well-being and advancement of our society. To be a teacher is very rewarding to me on a personal level. A teacher, besides their parents, plays a critical role in cultivating our children to build a better society in the future. A teacher can be a role model to her students. I would love to contribute to our society by utilizing my extensive work experience and advanced education in taking on all the challenges of the important role of being a teacher. The teachers most important responsibilities are: her thorough knowledge of the subject; the ability to articulate such knowledge that is easily understood and grasped by her students; motivate her students to learn; and instill in her students the importance of discipline that will benefit them now and the future. I motivated them by showing that skiing is a fun and healthy cardio activity. It was an easy task as I was able to prove that this sport is exciting and enjoyable; and is something I reward myself with on holidays and weekends every winter. In the beginning, they were reluctant to go through the boring lessons to learn the basics and practice. I explained to them that they must first master doing the stops, making the turns, getting on and off the lift chair and so on. I reminded them the importance of mastering these basics with extensive practice before they could truly enjoy the sport; and taking any short cut can result in injury. Another important aspect in effectively teaching them was to observe and monitor their progress to identify where they needed help and focused on improving their weak spots. Then I enrolled them to the appropriate morning lessons. After the class, I discussed with their instructors about their progress and what they needed to work on. Then, I skied with them in the afternoons on the level based on the instructors recommendation and feedback. I have been taking them to ski for the past 10 years. It is truly joyful and rewarding to see them advanced to the intermediate level today. During the last Christmas Eve I skied down the black diamond(most difficult) trail with my youngest niece during our annual ski trip. As we were swooshing down the trail she turned and said, Thanks, because of you we enjoy skiing down the advanced trails today. I replied, Youre welcome young lady, it has been a pleasure and now I have myself a few skiing buddies. During the economic downturn in Hong Kong in 1970, my family immigrated to America. In contrast to Hong Kong, the education in this country is accessible, available, and affordable on all levels to the financially disadvantaged. My parents had worked in a restaurant and factory earning minimum wages while raising five children. The family siblings obtained their early education within the school system of the low-income communities; and went on to gain college degrees in the bachelor science level and beyond. Higher education opened doors for all five of us in our careers. We are forever grateful to what this countrys education system has given us. From my experience, I understand the challenges of the students in the high need areas. I can be a great asset to their education by being an innovative, comprehensive and motivating teacher. By giving these students solid education, it will be vital in enabling them to realize their full potential in their future.

Academy of Classical Homeopathy Essays

Academy of Classical Homeopathy Essays Academy of Classical Homeopathy Paper Academy of Classical Homeopathy Paper Essay Topic: Classical The whole definition of health, as summarized by the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy based on the book entitled, â€Å"A New Model for Health and Disease† states. â€Å"Health is freedom from pain in the physical body, a state of well being; freedom from passion on the emotional plane, resulting in a dynamic state of serenity and calm; and freedom from selfishness in the mental sphere, having as a result total unification with Truth† (International Academy of Classical Homeopathy, 2007). I truly believe that the above definition summarizes the complete definition of health and I agree with what is stated above. Good health cannot be characterized by a single component as our health is constituted by the physical, spiritual and mental components and an imbalance in either of these would disturb the rest thereby making the definition of health incomplete. An inner peace through love and wisdom that is attained only in the absence of selfishness and acknowledging the truth can lead to a true health as selfishness is an impurity that should be cleansed from hearts. This is similar to the cause-and-effect relationship. If you think well, you will be good and if you are ill-thinking, you will be bad. Emotional stance of health should be taken into account as our health depends on it. Spiritually, we acknowledge the truth if the emotion of selfishness or greediness is cleansed from the heart†¦ RESPONSE: The views of WHO are similar to what I have stated above. A healthy lifestyle is truly the need for good health but today, spiritual accounts on the maintenance of good health is also growing popular due to its known effect on the confidence level of a person. It is possible for the person to be mentally, physically and socially well but on a spiritual level, it is like liberating yourself from all kinds of unethical worldly acts and feelings and stepping into a new dimension of love. Health is never a compromised issue so I believe the spiritual stance in the definition of health makes a big difference†¦

Allen Stanford

Adding to the case are charges against a former Antiguan official who has allegedly taken bribes from Stanford and his companies, a lawsuit against insurance group Lloyds of London by Allen Stanford, and a lawsuit by investors against Stanford’s auditing firm BDO. Despite the fact that his Chief Financial Officer testified against him in a plea bargain agreement, Stanford pleads not guilty to all charges. Adding drama to this high profile case, Stanford required medical treatment after getting beaten in prison and claims to have developed amnesia. The Stanford International Bank offered returns that were consistently double digits on its CDs. In their pitch to investors, SIB employees claimed it was due to smart portfolio management and investment in safe, liquid securities. SIB also claimed that a team of 20 talented analysts manage the portfolios carefully. However, the SEC claims that this is all false. In its complaint filed in February 2009, the SEC described Stanford’s operation as a â€Å"massive ponzi scheme. † The CDs were not reinvested in liquid securities – SIB’s portfolio mainly consisted of illiquid assets like real estate. The value of these assets was grossly overstated to pad the company’s financial reports. SIB offered returns based on fabricated performance data and claiming as historical data and portfolio management was done solely by Stanford and the CFO, James Davis. In addition, Stanford misappropriated more than $1 billion of investors’ funds. The money went to a fleet of yachts and jets, hosting an international cricket match, Caribbean real estate and bribing Antiguan regulators. Another layer of Stanford’s deception was the assurance of BDO, an independent auditing firm that issued unqualified audits of Stanford’s companies. Investors have filed a $10. 7 billion suit against BDO for â€Å"ignoring signs of potential fraud. (Bloomberg) Investors also claim that BDO should have been aware that Stanford’s company â€Å"was operating as an unregistered hedge fund illegally disguising itself as a bank. †(Bloomberg) The complaint also calls into question BDO’s close relationship with Stanford Financial Group and raises issues about conflict of interest. The SEC claims that Stanford International Bank sold unregistered CDs. Had they been registered, the SEC would have been able to verify the value of the CDs. The SEC suggests that the scheme goes back to at least 1995 where the bank reported identical returns in consecutive years. The SEC also charges Stanford and his companies of not cooperating with the SEC’s investigation and claims that about 90% of their investment portfolios â€Å"reside in a black box shielded from any independent oversight†( SEC v. Stanford International Bank, Ltd. , et al. ) Ironically, Stanford has sued SEC, the FBI, and members of the Justice Department for preventing redemption of CDs by investors by freezing his companies’ accounts. The SEC also took action to help compensate investors by filing suit against Securities Investor Protection Corp (SIPC) in order to force the company to pay investors. The SEC is getting heavily involved and taking a very aggressive stance in this case likely due to heightened alert from the recent Madoff Ponzi scheme. Stanford’s assets have been seized by the authorities and are in the process of liquidation. Auditors that are reviewing financial statements of investors that were involved in the Stanford case will have difficulty assessing how much their clients can recover. It is difficult to track investors’ funds in Stanford’s portfolio since it was managed by two people who worked in secret and because the CDs were unregistered with the SEC. The case is still undecided as Stanford is pleading not guilty. On another front, the SIPC is being coerced by SEC’s lawsuit to compensate investors but the SIPC plans to defend itself. On yet another front, some of the investors are involved in the lawsuit against BDO. In an audit of an investor involved in this case, it would be difficult to value the client’s portfolio. Some investors may face business risk contingent on the outcome of these trials. Investors seeking securities in off-shore banks should always consider the saying â€Å"if it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t. Investors should also look into the regulatory environment of the institution. While off-shore banks claim that savings from less regulation is translated into better returns, it should raise flags when it consistently performs above market for 15 years. BDO’s reports should have also raised flags as it did not examine Stanford’s portfolio.

Pain Management in a Polytrauma Patient Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Pain Management in a Polytrauma Patient - Essay Example Nociceptive pain comprises of two other classes: radicular and somatic pain. Radicular pain primarily stems from nerve roots irritation such as a disc herniation (PubMed). It follows the leg down to the nerve distribution from the root nerve at the spinal cord. In most scenarios, this class of pain associates with radiculopathy (numbness, weakness, loss of reflexes in nerve distribution). Somatic pain essentially affects the thigh and back. The problem with back pain is that polytrauma patients may not be in a position to provide appropriate history. However, doctors usually provide exact diagnosis in few cases even with appropriate information. Patients suffering from neuropathic pain display characteristics of complete or partial changes in the innervations territories that correspond to the central nervous or peripheral system pathology. Additionally, there is paradoxical occurrence of hypersensitivity and pain in denervated zones and their surroundings (Thomas 125). These nerve p roblems occur in different conditions and different locations of the nerve lesion. Consequently, there is no single mechanism entirely responsible for maintaining and generating all the signs and symptoms in neuropathic pain. Overall treatment of neuropathic pain remains a problem, though the increasing evidence of effective neuropathic pain treatment makes it important for clinicians to know the effective drugs in relieving pain as well as their side effects. Additionally, there is need for a treatment algorithm based on evidence for treating neuropathic conditions. A direct comparison of different drugs in both their side effects and efficacy will ideally lead to the best drug for the... The other viable option is to estimate relative safety and efficacy using the number needed to harm (NNH) and the number needed to treat (NNT) approach. Past research and studies using this approach appraise four pharmacological drug classifications that prove important in the management of neuropathic pain: antidepressants, anticonvulsants, opioids, and NMDA antagonists (Medscape).

Development of Political Parties Research Paper

Development of Political Parties - Research Paper Example 78-79). This paper is an attempt to present a bird eye’s view of the history of the political parties in the United States of America. Discussion Surprisingly, the constitution of United States, unlike other constitutions of the nations does not present any guidelines about the political parties of the country. In fact, the First President of United States and the Father of the Nation, George Washington was strongly against political parities because he viewed political party system as something, which would bring conflicts, inefficiency, and stagnation to the system (Eldersveld & Walton, pp. 123-125). However, as soon as United States gained independence, disagreements and discrepancies surfaced out in the views of the founding fathers of America (Cohen, Fleisher & Kantor, pp. 513-516). The First Part System came into being when differences between the Treasury of the State Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson regarding the role and strength of the federal government (Nivo la & Brady, pp. 78-79). Hamilton and its supporters wanted a strong central government to control ad look after the matters; however, Jefferson and his disciples feared that a strong central government like that of Britain would invite the states to stand up against the Federation someday. This was the era of 1792-1824 (Maisel, pp. 98-99). This tug of war between the Federalist Party of Hamilton and Jefferson’s Democratic Republican Party went on to include various foreign policy issues as well (Eldersveld & Walton, pp. 123-125). Towards the end of the 1820’s the era of good feelings started and these personal and policy differences were settled. However, important here is to note is that Democratic Republic Party was the clear winner and survivor (Sabato & Ernst, pp. 269-278). However, it was not until the Second Party System that foundation of the modern American Political Party system came into existence. During this era of 1828 to 1854, the Democratic Party led by Andrew Jackson and the Whig Party in the leadership of Henry clay were facing each other (Eldersveld & Walton, pp. 123-125; Ritchie, pp. 367-373). Towards the end of this era, many of the democratic leaders accepted Whiggish ideas; however, many other economic and social issues were forcing the Democratic Party itself to divide into two thus giving birth to the third political party system in the United States (Wilson & DiIulio, pp. 193-197). This was during the third political party system when the Republican and Democratic Parities emerged which continue to be the dominant force in American politics (Stonecash, pp. 59-67). Many experts believe that the newly born Republican Party emerged as a national party, which was bold enough to take strong economic and social decisions such as creation of banks, rail roods, abolishment of slavery and others (Bibby & Schaffner, pp. 112-113; Maisel, pp. 98-99). In fact, slavery was the major issue during this period. The Democratic Party, which had a strong alliance with the farmers of the South and the West were unable to continue this alliance due to the issue of slavery. Furthermore, the Democratic Party finally was divided into two fractions with for and against slavery (Maisel, pp. 26-28). On the other hand, Republicans believed on the concept of free soil and thus wanted the abolishment of slavery (Cohen, Fleisher & Kantor, pp. 513-516). As mentioned earlier that Republicans remained in the spotlight during this era and after the civil war, they were able to exercise their control over

Peace Corps Services Essay Example for Free

Peace Corps Services Essay Fulfillment in life is best attained when one contributed to meeting others’ needs, create time to understand their challenges and take decisive actions towards alleviating their sufferings. One can not also rule out the indispensability of peace if achieving this goal. Indeed, Peace Corps service presents major physical, emotional and intellectual challenges aimed at contributing to community development and invariably the stability of a nation. This stands as a major ideal of the Peace Corps Volunteers and I am keenly interested in such. More than interest, I am passionate about it. The ideals of the Peace Corps Volunteers are noble and they make a complete man; by this, I mean they contribute tremendously to the corporate citizenship status of an individual. In this vein, the individual sows seeds of good tidings to less opportune lives. A good corporate citizen engages in programs and activities based on the principle of individual impact on society aside continuous government plans. This is a major reason why I want to serve as a volunteer; the team is a credible platform to affect lives positively. Besides, I believe in that disputes and unrest can be avoided by effective communication and sheer understanding. This evidently requires tact and skills. Being a volunteer, I would have the privilege of engaging actively in activities that promote peace and harmony; this would sharpen my own communication skills and make me a better emotional intelligent individual. I see it as an avenue through which I can explore communication skills and improve on them, for the good of the colony. It also creates a large forum for me to learn others cultures, expands my schema and I can begin to appreciate life from a larger perspective. As a health care provider, serving as a volunteer is an excellent extension of my duties to the rest of opportunity outside the hospital walls. I have served in a number of religious and social volunteer work and these experiences have left an indelible mark on my heart. I can not stop but I must keep the flag on with the Peace Corps Volunteers as its ideals are compatible with my life’s goals.

Julius Caesar Essay: The Development of Mark Antony :: Julius Caesar Essays

Julius Caesar:   The Development of Mark Antony  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚      In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the author writes the Character â€Å"Mark Antony† very well. In the beginning of the play Antony is a very good friend of Caesar and watches out for him. He treats Caesar as a father with great respect. Antony is very loyal to Caesar and he does everything in his power to make Caesar happy, for example while he runs the race in the beginning of the play, he touches Caesars wife so that she may be fertilized.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   After Caesar is killed, Antony becomes very mournful and outrage by the treachery of the conspirators that killed Caesar. Antony asks for just to a speech at Caesars funeral and Brutus grants him that one wish. Antony is a very intelligent man and he has the ability to manipulate a crowd with his speeches. For example in Act 3 During Antony speech he says   But Brutus says he was ambitious;   And Brutus is an honourable man.   He hath brought many captives home to Rome   whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:   Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?   When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:   Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:   Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;   And Brutus is a honourable man.      By this it shows that Antony is intelligent and has courage for he mocks Brutus and his accusations. And it shows how he can manipulate the crowd by telling of Caesars wonderful accomplishments.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Antony then shows his anger towards the conspirators by getting the mob to release their anger by rioting and going out and killing the conspirators. Antony then starts a war against the conspirators and when this war starts Antony changes from the people’s hero to just a normal greedy leader. His hate for Brutus grows over time and with that hate grows greed. Antony starts thinking more about his wealth then about the people that he is supposed to be caring for.   In Act 5 Antony expresses his feelings towards Brutus before they go into the battle that will decide who is the rightful ruler of Rome.   Villains, you did not so, when your vile daggers   Hack'd one another in the sides of Caesar:   You show'd your teeth like apes, and fawn'd like hounds,   And bow'd like bondmen, kissing Caesar's feet;   Whilst damned Casca, like a cur, behind   Struck Caesar on the neck.

IT Infrastructure Essay

Patton-Fuller is a community hospital treats all kinds of concerns (Ecampus, 2009). They provide healthcare services designed to meet every need and any stages in life. They have providing service since 1975 and their goal is to be as pleasant in their service as possible while being productive through their many communications between all the branches of the hospital. The hospital has the responsibility of providing good services and protecting patient’s rights. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) outline the principles and requirements that the hospital must use to ensure they are protecting rights. There is a large amount of the database that needs to be kept secure and this is one of the main goals of the IT department. Improve Communications Patton –Fuller utilizes four different information systems to improve communication and collaboration between senior management, employees, doctors, nurses, and patients. The information systems help to improve the communication between hospital operations, improve the relationships with patients, and helps executives manage hospital finances. †¢ the finance information system utilized mainly by executives assists in managing hospitals cash flows, assets, liabilities, and net income. This IS also generates statements required by federal regulations. †¢ The HR information systems was managing policies, procedures, and compliance requirements but now they use hospital intranet which frees HR employees to concentrate on more critical HR actions. The system used mainly by HR personnel for recruitment, training, and personnel evaluations. †¢ Customer relation’s management (CRM) is utilized to build loyalty between hospital and patients through the World Wide Web. Complaints and recommendations are tracked through the CRM proved reports to senior managers. †¢ The fourth system is the Knowledge management (KM). The medical KM is used by doctors and nurses to access online medical databases to assist in patient diagnosis and drug administration. Currently each room has one network connection. The network connections each patient room should be for the clinical PC used in the room. These PC’s should not be available to patient use because this out the hospital at a greater risk for security. OSI layers The Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model has seven layers. The seven layers are: †¢ Application – this layer serves as the window for users and applications processes to access network services. †¢ Presentation – this layer formats the data to be presented to the application layer. †¢ Session – allows session or connection establishments, maintenance, and termination between processes running on different stations. It also supports communication over the network, and performing security checks. †¢ Transport – this layer ensures the messages are delivered err-r free in sequence, with no losses or duplications. †¢ Network – this layer controls the operation of the subnet, deciding which path the data should take. †¢ Data link- this layer provides error-free transfer of data frames from one node to another over the physical layer. †¢ Physical – This is the lowest layer of the OCI model. It also deals with the transmission and reception of the unstructured bit stream. Security and Protocols The current design for Patton-Fuller hospital might have some potential issues into the security arena. Avoiding potential issues and still providing the tools necessary for the hospital to keep providing exceptional service to the patients and families as well as the employees. Readings suggest that there should be three separate networks wired and wireless all with password protection: †¢ two of them will be for all employees inside the firewall. †¢ one of these two employees (for managers and executives) access lines with extra encrypted because this database will have sensitive information like HR issues and employee files. †¢ the third group outside the firewall will only be for family and guest access. One source said that a cat6 (which is what hospital has currently) speed is faster and about 250MHz vs cat5 at 100 MHz (Toms Hardware, 2009). It also suggests focusing more on the products that are connected to the lines to produce better speeds and productivity. Life and work Essay

Brahmagupta is believed to have been born in 598 AD in Bhinmal city in the state of Rajasthan of Northwest India. In ancient times Bhillamala was the seat of power of the Gurjars. His father was Jisnugupta.[2] He likely lived most of his life in Bhillamala (modern Bhinmal in Rajasthan) during the reign (and possibly under the patronage) of King Vyaghramukha.[3] As a result, Brahmagupta is often referred to as Bhillamalacharya, that is, the teacher from Bhillamala. He was the head of the astronomical observatory at Ujjain, and during his tenure there wrote four texts on mathematics and astronomy: the Cadamekela in 624, the Brahmasphutasiddhanta in 628, the Khandakhadyaka in 665, and the Durkeamynarda in 672. The Brahmasphutasiddhanta (Corrected Treatise of Brahma) is arguably his most famous work. The historian al-Biruni (c. 1050) in his book Tariq al-Hind states that the Abbasid caliph al-Ma’mun had an embassy in India and from India a book was brought to Baghdad which was tra nslated into Arabic as Sindhind. It is generally presumed that Sindhind is none other than Brahmagupta’s Brahmasphuta-siddhanta.[4] Although Brahmagupta was familiar with the works of astronomers following the tradition of Aryabhatiya, it is not known if he was familiar with the work of Bhaskara I, a contemporary.[3]Brahmagupta had a plethora of criticism directed towards the work of rival astronomers, and in his Brahmasphutasiddhanta is found one of the earliest attested schisms among Indian mathematicians. The division was primarily about the application of mathematics to the physical world, rather than about the mathematics itself. In Brahmagupta’s case, the disagreements stemmed largely from the choice of astronomical parameters and theories.[3] Critiques of rival theories appear throughout the first ten astronomical chapters and the eleventh chapter is entirely devoted to criticism of these theories, although no criticisms appear in the twelfth and eighteenth chap ters.

Introduction To The Global Tourism Hospitality Tourism Essays

Introduction To The Global Tourism Hospitality Tourism Essays Introduction To The Global Tourism Hospitality Tourism Essay Introduction To The Global Tourism Hospitality Tourism Essay so they might desire to book a room at 4 leading hotel to kip ( Lodging service ) . After that clients want to see a park ( Recreation service ) and eventually they book a tabular array at their hotel to hold dinner ( Restaurant service ) . I think in the hereafter, with the development of engineering, people will cognize more about their options and they might hold new desire. Thus there will be more professions under the umbrella of cordial reception and touristry and they may attach more closely through electronic devices to each other. Exercise 2 VIETNAM Figure 1.The figure of tourers from 2008 2010 in Vietnam ( Beginning: General statistics Office of Vietnam ) In the graph, the informations of outbound clients in Vietnam was non shown for several grounds. The figure of tourer growing important from 2008 to 2010. There is a little lessening in inbound informations in 2009 around 1.5 1000000s visitants while the figure of domestic quickly raised more than 3 1000000s visitants per twelvemonth. In fact, merely the information on international visitants to Vietnam are published monthly, and informations on domestic and entire gross from touristry is frequently merely reported in the six months of the one-year meeting of the industry. Deputy General Director of the General Statistics Office said Tran Thi Hang, plan studies, national statistics, the new unit every 2-3 old ages she expenditure study of international visitants to Vietnam, domestic tourers foreign and domestic travel one time. ( Chile, 2012 ) . Missing information might forestall the governments from doing policy program every bit good as anticipation about the long term and short-run development of touristry and the development of market. As a consequence, the authorities might non command the domestic touristry and outbound like taxing, foreign exchange, back up the client s right, duties of travel agents, hotels aˆÂ ¦ . Australia Figure 1. The figure of tourers from 2008 2010 in Australia ( Beginnings: Tourism Research Australia, 2012 ; Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2011 ; Overseas Arrivals and Departures, 2012 ) As can be seen, the touristry market of Australia was stable with little lessenings. The entire figure of tourers in 2008 was 81,495,000 visitants while there were 79,793,000 visitants in 2010. Meanwhile, the figure of Vietnam touristry market rose dramatically over a period of 3 old ages. In 2008 and 2009, the touristry sector of Australia was influenced somewhat by the economic system crisis. However, the informations of inbound and domestic clients in Vietnam kept increasing steadily. From my position, during the hard clip of economic system, people want to airt their finishs to developing states to salvage money. Table.1 Compare the Employment in touristry by sectors Vietnam ( 2010 ) Australia ( 2010 ) Direct labor 434, 240 513,900 Adjustment and nutrient services 207,600 232,400 Travel bureau and conveyance 65,800 92,500 Indirect labor 955,350 393,400 Other services 160,840 189,000 Entire 1,389,600 907,300 ( Beginning: General Statistics Office of Vietnam, 2011 and Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2011 ; Tourism Research Australia, 2012 ) As can be seen, the entire figure of people working in Hospitality section in Vietnam is much higher than the figure of Australia ( around 1,4 million and 900 thousand severally ) . However, the figure of direct labor of Vietnam is lower than Australia s ( 434 1000 and 513 1000 ) . On the other manus, Vietnam has more people contribute indirectly to cordial reception industry than Australia has ( about 955 1000 and 393 1000 ) . In my sentiment, Vietnamese labor force is much abundant than that of Australia and this affair might take to both strong points and drawbacks. First of wholly, as for the advantages, cordial reception industry might hold cheap labour cost, which save them a batch of disbursal. However, the labour force in Vietnam is non equal in quality and easy to be replaced. TOPIC 2 CURRENT ISSUES FOR THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY A brief history Four Season Hotel From a little hotel opened in Toronto, Canada, Four Season Corporation becomes a great international hotel group, which provides the most epicurean and satisfactory services to clients. For illustration, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has been ranked figure one in Digital IQ Index: Hotels study for the contraption of digital platform ( Four Seasons Corporate Newsletter B September 28, 2012 ) . The chief planetary challenges Speaking of the planetary schemes, I believe that turn outing the memorable experiences for invitees and quality relationships with employees and concern spouses ( Harmonizing to Michael D. Johnson, the Cornell Hospitality Hotel School s dean ) and following its life values are two of the major schemes that Four Seasons apply. The life values include: encouraging sustainability, constructing communities and progressing malignant neoplastic disease research. TOPIC 3 Ownership AND MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES AND THE ACCOMMODATION SECTOR Discussion inquiries The different hotel ownership options Hotel ownership options Advantages Disadvantages Owned by a individual entity or group that has hired a hotel direction company to run the belongings A qualified and experient director operates the belongingss. An advantage to taking a sail line is the alone experience of sailing from island to island ( Banks, n.d ) . The position from a private balcony on a sail ship is adequate to do anyone feel like a universe traveler. Cruise ship spends most of its clip on the ocean, clients can entertain many activities which is provided free installations. It is available both twenty-four hours and dark and is by and large more piquant than the amusement that is offered at an across-the-board resort ( Banks, n.d ) . One disadvantage to taking an across-the-board resort is that client will merely see one finish ( Banks, n.d ) . The amusement at an across-the-board resort is besides normally less diverse than a sai l ship ( Banks, n.d ) . However, experience of resort might be the favorable clime and broad scope of recreational activities ( Banks, n.d ) . Resort hotels are frequently located at comfy clime parts such as beaches, hills or mountains ( Banks, n.d ) . Consequently, cruise ships and resort purpose at different groups of clients, who have different demand in footings of, experience, services Case survey: The instance survey presents the scheme of Royal Hotel about a redevelopment plan. This hotel had a loyal patronage and ranked as a top of the line belongings. Hotel do non desire to take the hazard of losing clients to rivals so directors decided to stay unfastened and maintain in operation any suites or parts of the hotel which did non hold to be shut down for building. Those jobs is the cause that the clients complaint about ongoing building in public countries and hallways, along with the attendant dust, confusion, and noise. In this state of affairs, some necessary solutions should be given including: Isolating building countries from the remainder of the edifice by marks, publicizing background in order to divide the working countries of builders from countries for clients. Minimizing the impact of noise, dust, and building stuffs. Increasing organisational activities, events to scatter the attending of clients from the mending countries. Increasing publicity and other benefits for clients who were affected by the renovation. The conditions needed for the solution include the promotional plans and the budget for dialogue with clients in peculiar state of affairss. Besides, the redevelopment plan should be speeded up to cut down noise and affects to clients. TOPIC 4 ROOMS DIVISION AN OVERVIEW FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE Reading This article proposes a resort categorization system which provide definition saying minimal makings for a resort and proposes a categorization system based on scope and range of comfortss ( Brey 2011 ) . However, there are many categorising resorts made by national authoritiess About the definition, Concentrating on resorts as existent estate developments, a definition by Schmitz et Al. ( 2008 ) requires three primary features: inclusion in master-planned existent estate developments, propinquity or easy entree to important comfortss, and lodging ( Brey 2011 ) . In an attempt to standardise a diverse group of resorts, the Organization of American States ( OAS ) placed minimal structural and auxiliary demands to unite single evaluation systems throughout the Caribbean ( Caribbean Innkeeper 2007 ) . While these elucidation activities have successfully served a specific intent, they lack industry-wide application As for categorization, the first class, finish resort, service as the primary motive to see a finish and have characteristically high degrees of service ( Brey 2011 ) . Following, intermediate resort, typically located in a rural location, provides a scope of activities and comfortss that is non every bit comprehensive as what is found at finish resorts. Last, specialized resort, can be found in any location and supply a focussed experience around one signature agreeableness or ground tackle property. We can see the of import function of categorization its helps the directors can command, measure and and do scheme program for their resort. The on-line travel agents bring to the hotel many benefits and drawbacks, they are besides of import distribution channel to do hotel s stock list available to planetary audience. Hospitality suppliers want to utilize engineering to administer their stock list straight, it is impossible to deny the function of on-line travel agent presently. Many hotel engagements are implemented through on-line travel agents and online tools. As for advantages, the relationship between hotels and the on-line travel agents called LOVE . Online mediators have evolved to cover different theoretical accounts, reach different market. Hotels and online travel agent need each other, hotel demand agent to drive demand and agent demand hotels to offer services. Both sides need each other, both hotels and the on-line travel agents develop and trust on each other to develop. However, hotels loss the power to lend by themselves, they must portion more committees to pay for agent so fewer profitableness. That is the ground why hotels HATE the on-line travel agents. The love hatred relationship seems to be most intense between big hotel group and big online travel agents. Since the big hotel create a monopoly amongst on-line agents. In general, on-line travel agents and mediators are now indispensable portion of the industry and as for the hotel, an absolute necessity. Gross direction and gross revenues staff have close relation with each other because they together make determinations sing rate, accept group concern and prognosis. However, they can further better coordination to minimise the misinterpretation and understand exhaustively the other s chief undertakings. We understand in some ways that gross direction squad include gross revenues and gross direction forces. One manner to better group gross direction maps is to spread out the collabouration of gross revenues and gross direction forces, peculiarly in pricing ( Cross, Higbie, and Cross 2009 ) and prediction ( Milla and Shoemaker 2008 ) . Gross direction squad are responsible for: Whether to accept a group offer and prognosis room block use to guarantee that suites will be filled or released for sale to transient invitees. Although holding the frequence of formal meetings, the two respondent groups are still holding certain informal meetings. With respect to formal meetings, the highest mentioned frequences were daily or one or two times per hebdomad. The informal meeting to assist communicating between the gross direction and gross revenues maps better. Case Study: The instance survey describes the new place for Morgan Black in the Coug Inn. The Cougar- Inn is in a distant location near local university, with 150-room full-service belongings with several moderate-sized conference suites. After detecting, Morgan Black found out some jobs of the forepart desk: the check-in procedure which still in the traditional procedure and the hapless communicating between housekeeping and the fount desk. Morgan wants to utilize the machine-controlled belongings direction system, nevertheless the forepart desk director do non believe it is deserving money In my sentiment, Morgan should see a figure of issues like employee wont, the ability to budget for the system and the version of employees to work with systems. The proposed check-in clip of the fount desk Morgan need to find whether the forepart desk clerks truly necessitate more clip to set up check-in. Which the crunch clip which because of the reserve procedure or complex reserve signifier or hapless communicating between the parts such as forepart desk, reserve and housework by the linguistic communication or the procedure? Morgan should show the solutions for the communicating issue between housekeeping and the fount desk. There is the needful aware of communicating between each section. The international linguistic communication must be English for concern and the hotel should hold developing English and automated belongings direction system. The director of housekeeping should hold regulations to promote staff utilizing English in work. On the other manus, utilizing automated belongings direction system will assist to minimise the error in communicating ; the transmitted information will be more accurate. In the easier manner, Morgan should engage new employee who can utilize international concern English in workplace. The concluding determination requires the engagement of the corporate office, the fount desk, reserve and housework. The corporate office will command the budgets, who will make up ones mind where the money comes and which is worth for investing. The fount desk are the staff for a long clip and the corporate office needs to give their thoughts and advice before any methods are implemented. The housework must concern for understanding their function in new belongings direction system.
